Divorce Financial Planning

You want a soft landing, I want to help you get there.
The end of your divorce marks the beginning of your financial future
Do you just want someone to help make sure you don’t mess anything up?
There is no shame in not being a financial professional – release that. But you do have the opportunity to surround yourself with professionals who will help you put your best foot forward. With the right support, you can do so much more than you give yourself credit for.

I work with clients who value financial peace of mind and are willing to pay for it.
If your divorce has financial complexity – hiring a financial professional is the next right move to make sure you have the expertise and guidance you need for a smooth divorce process. I hear from divorcees all the time who look back at their divorce and wish they had more education and support. They look back on expensive mistakes made and thoughts of “if only I knew better”. I don’t want that for you. I want you to look back at your divorce and feel like you did everything you needed to do to get it done right the first time. That takes a team approach.
My hourly fee is currently $250/hour with a retainer up front starting at $2,500 depending on the scope of the engagement. If any part of the retainer is unused at the end of the engagement, you will receive a refund for the balance.
Post Divorce Transition Assistance
Once your divorce is finalized, the Marriage Settlement Agreement (MSA) will outline all of your property transfer agreements. Often times that involves transferring funds from various types of accounts on many different timelines. You may still need to submit a QDRO to the retirement plan administrator and have no idea what that means. Maybe there are stock options on a vesting schedule that need to be kept track of. It can be hard to keep all you need to do organized. That’s where I come in. I am a financial advisor with a passion for working with clients during and after their divorce.
- When you hire me as your wealth manager, you are hiring an experienced investment team, a CPA who can review your taxes, a Certified Financial Planner who can help you develop a long-term financial plan for your future, and a divorce financial professional who wants to meet you where you’re at and understands the process of divorce – all in one.
- I will read your MSA and create a clear timeline for when certain tasks need to be completed – making sure you get all you are entitled to and on a timely basis.
- I will help you understand the different types of accounts that need to be opened and help facilitate their opening and asset transfer so that you know exactly what the next steps are.
- I provide the education you need to understand all of your different assets and how your investment mix can be managed going forward to meet your individual goals. I want you to feel like you understand what is happening and why. You deserve that.
- I will work with you on your budget and a long-term financial plan so that there are no surprises down the road.
- No judgment, just education and a partnership to help get you where you want to be.
Divorce Transition Services are provided hourly at the same $250/hour rate with a 5 hour or $1,250 minimum (not including full financial plan). These services including a financial plan are complimentary (no added cost) for clients who hire me for investment management with $500,000 or more. Our account minimum is currently $100,000.
